To Entry

A valid passport is required to enter Mexico. Find more information about the requirements and procedures to obtain a Visa contacting the Mexican Embassy or consular agency at your home town before you travel. The requirements may vary according to the country of origin.

Airport

Cancun International Airport is the closest one to the Riviera Maya. Major airlines have direct flights or connections to Cancun, ranked second in importance along the country. Domestic flights connect it with the rest of Mexico. Small airplanes also take you to the International Airports of Cozumel, Chetumal and Merida and the small air track located in Chichen Itza.

Currency & ATM

Normally, prices are expressed in both Mexican Pesos and US Dollars and the restaurants have bilingual English-Spanish menus. Be sure to carry enough cash with you, as ATMs are located only in the main cities, like Puerto Morelos. Playa del Carmen and Tulum. US Dollars are widely accepted at the Mexican Mayan Riviera and the rest of the Mexican Caribbean as well as major credit cards.

Ferry

A federal dock is located at Puerto Morelos, mainly for ferries carrying cars towards Cozumel. Playa del Carmen is the right place to cross to Cozumel and the ferry departs every hour on a daily basis. There is another car ferry located at Calica, also crossing to Cozumel every day.
